Where The Flowers Still Grow

Read Time: < 1 minute

Bharat Sikka’s stunning collection of photographs from Kashmir

In 2014 and 2015, after reading Mirza Waheed’s novel The Collaborator, photographer Bharat Sikka travelled to the valley of Kashmir to photograph its people in an attempt to “make some sense of their dilemma through his personal experience.”  The result is a stunning series of portraits, mostly of men, against the wild landscape of valley. What is perhaps most haunting about these images, is the sense of isolation that they evoke. Have a look.

Where The Flowers Still Grow is on exhibition at the Nature Morte Gallery, New Delhi, until May 27th
