Conversations with Courtney Barnett

Read Time: < 1 minute

She’s been a darling of the Australian music scene and now Melbourne singer Courtney Barnett has caught the attention of Barack Obama, when he added her to his Spotify playlist.

Over a year after Courtney Barnett released her critically acclaimed debut Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, the Australian rocker had been nominated for best new Artist at the 2016 Grammys. Beloved Melbourne singer was also number Six on Rolling Stone’s list of the 50 Best Albums.

She puts a lot of effort, into sounding effortless. Her songs are wild and woolly and wordy, her lyrics plainspoken and delivered like she’s making them up on the spot. All of her skills are on display as Courtney Barnett joins Sound Opinion hosts Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot for an interview and intimate solo performance.

The podacst also has a review of the new album from country singer-songwriter Lydia Loveless.
